ABOUT KRISTYE DUDLEY

I am Kristye, a contemporary abstract painter, designer, writer, illustrator, and teacher living in Northern Virginia.

I see the figure as a shell for the spirit. I enjoy using impressionistic strokes, featureless faces, and expressive forms to exhibit the universal emotions we all share. I explore nature, life, and the beauty of emotional self-reflection in the world around us. I hope that my work will touch and inspire you.

History

I'm a South Carolina native, where my dad, an architect, first handed me a pencil to sketch. Those early drawings, from intricate floor patterns to stylish church hats, ignited my lifelong love for art. I was fascinated by colors and shapes, leading me to embrace a path in abstract painting, graphic design, and surface design. After earning a BFA in painting and a Master's in Graphic Communications from Clemson University, I worked in various roles in printing, advertising, and art direction, all while continuously fueling my passion for creating art.

I now live in northern Virginia with my lovely family, I cherish our journey, which includes moving seven times in 12 years as a military wife. Our memorable four and a half years in Italy enriched my artistic style. From cheering in college to the NFL, I still find joy in a spontaneous dance, anywhere, anytime. in 2020, I overcame a tough battle with uterine cancer, I’m now a proud survivor, drawing strength and inspiration from each new day.

For 20 years, I've dedicated myself to mastering my art and contributing to the art community. It's been a joy to share my work with passionate collectors.
