Kristye-Dudley-Contemporary-Artist-Headshot

Welcome to my studio.

I am Kristye, a contemporary abstract painter, designer, writer, illustrator, and teacher living in Northern Virginia.

I see the figure as a shell for the spirit. I enjoy using impressionistic strokes, featureless faces, and expressive forms to exhibit the universal emotions we all share. I explore nature, life, and the beauty of emotional self-reflection in the world around us. I hope that my work will touch and inspire you.

I feel like music helps me express myself. I have always been a little hyper, but I wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until I was 40! Movement and music are connected to my soul. 🫶🏾💃🏾🎨

Do you listen to music when you create?
Soooo, I needed a social media break. I’m back and trying to turn over a new leaf (🍁 Fall joke).
.
I have put so much pressure on myself about what my posts should look like and what they should say, that I paralyzed myself with perfection.
.
I also haven’t let you get to know me, like the real me. I used to be really cool!😎 I’ll share more about that later, but I’ve missed you and I’m looking forward to catching up very soon.

Every 4 years I’m reminded of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta when I had the opportunity to perform at the Opening Ceremonies. As part of the collegiate cheer staff, we taught college teams the usual summer camp material and we taught the choreography for the ceremonies. Such an amazing time with wonderful people. I still remember the moves too!🤣 #openingceremony
