Kristye-Dudley-Contemporary-Artist-Headshot

Welcome to my studio.

I am Kristye, a contemporary abstract painter, designer, writer, illustrator, and teacher living in Northern Virginia.

I see the figure as a shell for the spirit. I enjoy using impressionistic strokes, featureless faces, and expressive forms to exhibit the universal emotions we all share. I explore nature, life, and the beauty of emotional self-reflection in the world around us. I hope that my work will touch and inspire you.

Day 28 - A Person Who Influenced You Positively

This month has been a journey of reflection and creativity, and today marks the last day of the challenge! Over the past 28 days, my journaling process has taken a different direction—shifting from spontaneous, in-the-moment thoughts to intentional prompts that made me explore past experiences, emotions, and even sensory memories.

Today's prompt is about someone who has influenced me. I can’t help but think of my parents—especially my father. He nurtured my love for art, always encouraging me to create. Now, I see that artistic spark in my daughter, and I strive to give her the same unwavering support my parents gave me and let her know that anything is possible.

Here’s to the power of inspiration and passing creativity forward. 💫 Who has influenced you the most in your creative journey? Let’s celebrate them today! 🎨✨ #createwithkristye #28DayCreativeChallenge #BlackHistoryMonth #abstractart #motheranddaughter #ArtisticLegacy #Inspiration
Day 27 - A Moment You Felt The Most Energized

I felt the most energized when I was cheering! I love a pom-pom!

Honored and grateful! #dwd

Tonight, my journey as a professional cheerleader is being recognized in my hometown of Clemson, SC. An exhibit is celebrating athletes from my high school who went on to compete professionally, and I’m beyond proud to be part of it. Though I can’t be there in person, I’m there in spirit—representing my community with pride! 💙✨ #DWDPride #Honored #Grateful
Day 27 - A Moment You Felt Energized

There was a time when being nervous gave me so much energy! Right before a performance or a speech, I would feel tightness in my throat, my mouth dry, and my heart beating out of my chest. Then, I would take a big breath and lean into the feeling. I would harness those emotions into energy I could use to perform.

I Wanna Dance with Somebody, is my favorite karaoke song. It’s light, and bouncy, fun to dance to, and even more fun to sing!
